Chrome OS / Linux Mint / etc

This week I downloaded the Google Chrome Operating System via a link on dottech.org, that went to gdgt.com . It worked running it in Virtual Box (like VMWare), which virtualizes your OS. It runs under Window$ (or other operating systems) and lets you apply resources to run another OS inside your main one. It was cool. Spartan, to say the least. It comes up with Google Chrome browser, gmail, and some other select Google Apps, and Pandora Internet radio (I'm a big fan) which Google may have purchased, not sure. Anyway, they say it's geared toward netbooks and the like, and I can see where it would work SLICK for that. Engadget.com has instructions for loading it, so do some other sites. I'm downloading the torrent to load it from a 4gb USB stick right now. THAT application is useful. You'd be able to boot your Google login, iGoogle, Gmail, Wave (still up in the air on it's usefulness), Pandora radio, and some other useful apps from a usb drive on most any computer. I

NEW HANDSFREE DEVICE

Image
A creative new technique for “hands free” cell phone use has captured the attention of the fashion scene. Expect to see giant lobes on all of the trendy Hollywood socialites within the year. Don’t expect it to take years to develop these earlobes like it does in the Maasai tribe, modern plastic surgery will enable this new fad with a quick outpatient procedure. If rumors are true, Both Paris Hilton and Nicole Ricci have already scheduled their earlobe augmentation surgeries for early next month. Unless you are on the cutting edge of fashion you should not have save up for this one. The price should drop fast when this becomes common by 2009. Just remember, you heard it here first. Photo discovered here .

Shoulda bought gold...

BEER TASTING

Image
WHAT: Beer tasting WHERE: Young's house. (Pelican Pub) WHEN: Saturday, May 2nd at 5:30 (it's also Kentucky Derby Day , Ladies, wear hats if at all possible) WHO: You, of course! We will grill whatever you bring . Bring something else to munch on if you like. (This is Glen's deal, so it's a basic "beer, meat, chips" type event) It's best to be prompt so you can sample all the beers. This is not a "kill the keg" :') event, but make sure to bring enough for everyone to taste. Prior events have taught us to drink homebrew in moderation. (Modern venitilation has yet to catch up to noxious fume output when mass consumption occurs.) Other commercial beer varieties are welcome so we can see how we stack up against them. The Medearis Brewing Company will be represented, but the brewmaster will be out fishing during this event. (We encourage the head beer wench to attend in his stead.) Update: She RSVP'd and is coming! Hazzah! She also corrected my
